Where should I go in March?

My girlfriend and I are planning a world trip. The question that keeps coming up: where should we be, and when? Every destination has its season. You don't want to end up in Thailand during monsoon or in Iceland in January (unless you're into that).

MonthMap lets you set your personal comfort zone, temperature, humidity, rain, air quality, budget, and then shows you which cities are ideal for each month of the year. 276 cities, all color-coded on a map. Green means go, red means maybe not.

The backstory

I built the travel planning app I mentioned in my blog post. It started as a quick thing for us to figure out our route, but it turned into something genuinely useful. The climate data is based on 2020-2024 normals, so it's not just averages from decades ago.

How it works

  • Interactive world map with 276 cities, color-coded by comfort level
  • Set your own ranges for temperature, humidity, rain tolerance, air quality, and budget
  • Click any city to see month-by-month climate breakdowns
  • Emoji indicators show you exactly why a place scores low (too hot, too rainy, too expensive)
  • Plan a 12-month route by adding cities to a timeline
  • Copy your route to share it
  • Everything runs in the browser. No account needed, no data collected
