From offerte.cc to DoneQuote

July 14, 2026

I built a quoting app and called it Offerte.cc. In Dutch, "offerte" means quote. Made total sense to me. I'm Dutch. My brother is Dutch. His window washing company is in the Netherlands.

But I kept having this moment when telling people about it. I'd say the name and get a blank stare. Or I'd have to explain: "Offerte, like an offer, but in Dutch." Not great for a product you want people to remember.

The problem with a Dutch name

It's fine to start local. My brother was the first user. Most of the early conversations were in Dutch. Building for a real person you know is way better than building for an imaginary customer.

But the thing is, contractors everywhere have this problem. Someone in Spain, Germany, the UK, they're all counting stuff manually and going home to type it up. The problem I solved is not a Dutch problem. So why was the name Dutch?

What DoneQuote means

DoneQuote is two things at once: you're done with quoting (as in, it handles the work) and you've got a done quote ready to send. That's the whole product in two syllables.

It's also just easier to say. I can tell someone about it and they immediately get what it does. No explanation required.

And donequote.com was available, which honestly surprised me.

It's live now

Spent the last few months building, testing with my brother, tweaking the voice input, and getting the client portal to a place I'm happy with. It's at donequote.com now.

If you know any contractors who spend their evenings typing up quotes they should have sent hours ago, send them over.
